Chapter VIII, page 143

We incarnate into physical reality and completely forget where we come from, who we are and why we have embodied. Most of us feel and perceive that this is a conscious choice to do something here on this planet. Most of us have a strong sense of mission. But some feel deceived or imprisoned. Whenever I look at it, I feel willing to be lured on a mission. The eternal divinity, the omniscient being cannot be deceived unless you deliberately choose a lower level of consciousness for a while. And why would we do that?

If people do not perceive the meaning and importance of their lives and experiences, most of them die quickly. Many times I have seen people who have worked all their lives die a few days or weeks after they retire. Similarly, when partners are very close, they die a few days or weeks in a row. It seems as if the relationship between soul and body can function and continue only when the soul believes that what it is experiencing or doing is important. And what could be more important than the personal development and growth or survival of our families, tribes, nations?
